Manufacturing Systems Design Projects- (South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama)- Mechanical and multi-discipline engineering design and project services for various man-made fiber line processes and polymers/plastics manufacturing to include the related R&D facilities. Participated in design, installation and commissioning of all phases of the building and equipment. Design services included HVAC, process mechanical, machine design, some limited electrical/controls, and some limited structural. General Industrial Building Projects- (South Carolina)- Completed the building design services (primarily HVAC, plumbing process, and machine design) on numerous additional industrial projects to include chemical manufacturing facilities, industrial painting facility, flooring/building materials manufacturing facilities, automotive manufacturing facilities, and various assembly type operations. Institutional Building Projects- (South Carolina)- Completed the building design services (primarily HVAC, plumbing) on school projects, medical facility projects, public housing, recycling center buildings, and numerous church projects. Utility/Public Works Projects- (South Carolina and North Carolina)- Completed the building design services (primarily HVAC, plumbing) on water treatment plants (Pickens, SC and King, NC), waste gas thermal oxidizer project, utility boiler projects, chemical storage facility, central refrigeration plant, and rail unloading facility. BP-Amoco Polymers Inc., Greenville, SC 1989–August, 2001 Senior Engineer 1999-2001 A staff position with the responsibilities of maintaining/ developing/ advancing the carbon fiber and Torlon business technologies and providing leadership in core mechanical engineering disciplines (machine design, process mechanical, HVAC, structural, civil, plumbing, fire protection) as a resource to all areas of the business (manufacturing, research and development, and business administration). Project Design Engineer and CAD Department Manager 1992-1999 Tasked with spending 90% of time working on assigned design projects and 10% of time managing the engineering drawing system and personnel for the carbon fiber and engineering polymer businesses. The project work included a range from major capital to minor plant modifications. Project responsibilities included both the individual detailed design and engineering contractor oversight. Typical assignment responsibilities involved preparing or assisting in the preparation of a scope of work, creating/revising process documentation (P&ID’s/PFD’s), preparing authorization estimates, detailed analytical design, preparing design drawings on AutoCAD, preparing equipment purchasing specifications and construction/fabrication scopes, construction field consultation/management, commissioning and start-up assistance. DuPont Co., Savannah River Plant- Aiken, SC 1988-1989 Project Maintenance Engineer Provided mechanical maintenance and small project engineering services for a site steam-producing power plant and a refrigeration plant. Implemented and managed a computational vibration predictive maintenance program for all rotating-element equipment (pumps, turbines, fans, motors, etc.) which included diagnostic data evaluation (trending) and corrective measure implementation. |
